First trip to Brookfield in 2010

A long overdue playdate with the Fasshauers resulted in a trip to Brookfield Zoo. What a beautiful day it was! Aubrey and Ava had a blast together. They walked around holding hands, taking in all of the sites on their own. I guess we need to get the two of them together more often. Chloe and Tyler had fun, too. Tyler saw so much that he fell sound asleep in his stroller right after lunch. I look forward to many more trips back this summer.

Family Fun Day

This week, the Bolingbrook Park District is holding "Celebration of the Young Child" week. So, when we were out and about on Sunday, we went past the Rec center and noticed all of the municipal vehicles out for the kids to check out. We figured Aubrey would just love it so we stopped by. Guess what? We were right!! Both kids got into the fire truck and school bus. Then Aubrey climbed into a police car, John Deere tractor, the Bookmobile (library), and a couple of semi cabs. She kept calling the semis "garbage trucks" though. She thought it was so cool. Too bad Tyler wasn't as interested. He just wanted to run around. All in all it was a great event for the kids. We will definitely return next year!

Baby Avery is born!

Today my oldest sister, Deanna, welcomed her first baby girl! After having three boys, Caleb (16), Kyle (13) and Jared (9), she can finally dress someone in pink! Welcome to the world Avery Lynn. We can't wait to meet you in a few weeks!

O' Springtime!

Spring is officially here! Yippee! That means off to the park we go. Of course, for me, that means with camera in tow. Below are some pictures I have taken of the kids. They have so much at the parks and I love to watch the play. Did I mention, I love it when they burn energy, too???

Did the Easter Bunny come?

Yes, he did!! Aubrey was the first to awake and head downstairs with me. She immediately saw the Easter baskets full of toys and candy on the bench in the living room. Then she noticed the Easter eggs scattered about. Unfortunately, I told her that she could not look at any of it until Tyler and Daddy woke up. So, an hour later, she was ready. She loved her new purple Ballerina barbie. (Purple is her favorite color, you know.) She was also thrilled the Peeps! However, she didn't have much interest in finding the Easter eggs to start out with. Tyler on the other hand, skipped the basket and started looking for eggs immediately. I'm not sure he really knew what he was doing but rather was just picking up the eggs that were hiding in odd spots. The kids had a blast which meant Jeff and I did, too!

In the afternoon, we headed over to Jeff's parents' house where the Easter Bunny struck again. Well, maybe not the Easter Bunny, but rather Grandma. She's just as generous. The kids loved looking at their baskets and playing with their new toys. We had a great Easter this year!

Coloring the eggs

Easter weekend is here. We originally planned to head back to Orion for the weekend but that fell through. So, we decided to make the most of it and have a fun weekend at home! We started on Saturday by coloring Easter eggs. Aubrey was so excited! I set up all of the cups with the colors and she just dipped away. She may have cracked a few eggs but she loved it. Tyler just sat and watched it all. Maybe next year he'll be able to get in on the fun, too!
