Naperville Riverwalk

What a beautiful day! In order to get out and enjoy, we headed to the Riverwalk in Naperville to walk around and enjoy the scenery. The river is so beautiful and we love walking on the pathways by it. Aubrey especially enjoyed the frogs on display around the downtown area. It was a great family day!

Two days later, Aubrey and I decided to meet Michelle there again. She loved it just as much as us!

Lainey turns 1

This past weekend, we traveled back to Orion again. This time, we headed to the Rock Island County fair to see Caleb show cattle. He did so well. He was top of the class with each of his calves. We are so proud of him!

On Sunday, we celebrated Lainey's first birthday. She's getting so big! Aubrey had a great time playing at their house and celebrating with her cousin!

Chula Vista

This past weekend we traveled as a family to the Wisconsin Dells. Jeff played in a volleyball tournament on Saturday with his MN friends, Adam and Dan. Everything was to be held at Chula Vista resort so we figured it would be a great time to get away as a family.

First of all...we finally learned the secret to entertaining Aubrey in the car...the DVD player! Even though Jeff and I had to endure 3 hours each way of The Backyardigans and Yo Gabba Gabba, Aubrey we so good and barely noticed we were even in the car.

Saturday was a busy day as we watch Jeff play all day. Again, Aubrey was a wonderful baby as she played in or near the tent the entire time rarely venturing more than 5 steps away. She even sat through Jeff's playoff match and cheered for her Daddy.

Saturday night, Aubrey and I went to the water park. We tried the outdoor kiddie pool first but the water was too cold for both of us. Next we hit the indoor kiddie pool. There was so much for her to see and do. She started out by the mini geisers coming from the ground. Then she moved onto to the buckets of water that filled and dumped on her head. I couldn't believe she liked that. Lastly, I took her on the water slides! She loved them!! We went down each about 4 or 5 times. We finally stopped as Aubrey's teeth (or gums :) were chattering so much that I figured I should get her out the cold water and off to bed. After such a long day, Aubrey slept from 8:30-7:30 without a single peep!

Sunday morning, we woke and took Daddy to the water park with us. He was able to capture the moments on film for us. Her look of excitement going down the water slide is priceless. He even took a video. Halfway down Aubrey put her arms in the air like she was on a roller coaster. She loves the thrill!

We look forward to the years to come when we can spend more fun times with our little peanut!

Busy 4th

What a busy week!

Aubrey and I went back to Orion for a few days. As usual, the days were jam packed with activities. On Tuesday, Deanna and Denise each came over with their kids to go swimming. It was Aubrey's first time in a big pool. She didn't really want to float around on her own but loved swimming with Mommy. We spent over an hour in the pool together. She didn't even mind when the boys would splash her in the face with water.

Tuesday night we went to watch Sarah play baseball. She can really hit the ball. Aaron, Lissy and Lainey came up, too. The girls love to play together. They are going to be such good friends as they get older.

Wednesday we went to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Harkey. They both love to see Aubrey. She loves the attention and puts on a show whenever possible. These days she says "hi" all of the time and waves at everyone. After our visit with them, we went to Niabi Zoo with Grandma and Grandma, Denise, Evan and Sarah. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. Aubrey likes to look at the animals...at least the ones that are in plain sight. She especially loves the petting zoo...maybe it's because the animals are more her size. :)

Wednesday night we went to Jared's baseball game. He is cute to watch. It's amazing how quickly the little ones learn the game and develop their skills. We can't wait until Aubrey can play sports, too.

Thursday night was the biggest day of all! Grandpa Kunert prepared a lighted wagon to pull in the lighted float parade in Orion. It looked so nice! He did a wonderful job decorating with all of the lights...the music was nice, too. All of the grandkids rode in the wagon waving at the spectators while Mom, Deanna, Denise and Jake walked along side passing out candy. The kids had a great time! I think Grandpa was pretty proud, too. Afterwards we went to the football field to watch the fireworks. Aubrey loved them. She sat in her stroller eating her goldfish like she was watching a movie with a bowl of popcorn. Too cute! Even though it was a late night, she was in good spirits the whole time and even slept like a champ.

The next morning we headed back home to see Daddy. We missed him so much. That day we had a BBQ at Grandma and Grandpa Sandberg's house. The weather was awesome and Aubrey had a great time with all of the Sandberg cousins. We also managed to surprise Grandpa Sandberg with a retirement party. He had no idea!

What a great week! We look forward to more fun this weekend. We are off to the Wisconsin Dells. Jeff will be playing in a volleyball tournament on Saturday. Aubrey and I play to watch him in between our times at the pool. :) (originally posted on Babysites)
