Ready for preschool

Aubrey started a pre-preschool class today. Although she was very nervous, she did great! She was very reluctant to let me leave but one of the teachers, Miss Stephanie, offered to let Aubrey sit on her lap. Once that happened, I knew she felt comfortable enough for me to be able to go. At the end of class, the teacher explained that many of the children cried, a few did an art project and all did well. I wasn't sure which category Aubrey would fall into. I walked in to see Aubrey beaming! She ran over right away to show me her craft project (smiles) and she didn't want to leave. I talked to her teacher and asked her how Aubrey did. She said she sat on her lap for a couple of minutes until she saw another boy crying. At that point, she told the teacher "I will get off now, I think he needs you to hold him." Awww...I'm so proud of her. I guess she's used to having share laps with Tyler when he is crying! All in all, today was a great first for our little girl!

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day to my three Valentines! I love you Jeff, Aubrey and Tyler!!!

Letter to Tyler

Dear Tyler,

I can't believe that you are already one! I thought it was time to sit down and write a letter to you. I want you to know how much you mean to me. Hopefully one of these days, you will realize you mean the world.

One...You are one handsome little boy. Your smile lights up the room. Every time we go to the store (which is often) or out somewhere and you crack a smile at someone, they instantly smile right back. I cannot tell you how many times someone has commented on how sweet your smile is. You have the fullest head of hair, too. Daddy takes all of the credit for your cowlick but it just makes it that much cuter. I wish I had the thickness of your hair. Or maybe you could share some with your sister?

Two...You are so happy...24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Well maybe not 365 days but 363 days. Everyone is allowed an off day or two. From the moment you wake up until the minute you fall asleep, you are always in good spirits. It is contagious, too. Unfortunately, this makes disciplining you a little more difficult. It the midst of your happiness, you have the cutest giggle. I've even gotten it on video a few times, too. You'll have to see it some day. The fake sneeze by Mommy works every time.

Three...You are so smart. I'm not sure if it's because you have a smart big sister to follow around or if it just comes natural, but you pick up on EVERYTHING. I first noticed it when at about 11 months you would bring your snack bowl to me, put it in my hand and then put my other hand on it. This was your way of telling me that you wanted a snack. Then, you started going to the refrigerator and saying "ba, ba" whenever you wanted your bottle. Lastly, when it's almost time to go somewhere, your grab your shoes and bring them to me to put them on you and then you go straight to the door. You definitely know when it's time to head out.

Four...You are so loving. I thought Aubrey was a big snuggler but you are just as snuggly. You love to be held, especially at bedtime when you are drinking your bottle. You also like to sit on my lap during cartoons or book time. Your loving nature doesn't just happen around your immediate family either. You are also very loving to your grandparents and Aunt Gail. She is your buddy!

Five...You can dance! Aubrey started moving and shaking around 18 months. You had it down at 13 months. Any time music comes on, you start tapping your foot, shaking your arms and spinning around and around and around. I think you got the spinning dance move from your sister but you do it just as well. I apologize in advance if you didn't inherit any rhythm from me or your Daddy as neither of us dances very well. But, we try and we have fun and that is all that matters.

Six (and last)...You are ALL boy. You are tough, brave, strong and fearless. You got your first black eye at 15 months and barely cried. You've taken many hits from your sister, many falls on the sidewalk and many bumps and bruises yet your rarely shed a tear. I know one day you are going to be a star football player as you already know how to tackle.

I look forward to watching you grow into a toddler, little boy, teenager and eventually a man. Although I'm in no hurry to watch you grow up, I cannot wait to see who you become. You are the third love in my life (to Daddy and your sister) and I couldn't imagine life without you.

I love you very much!!

Tyler is one!

We celebrated Tyler's first birthday on Saturday. Even with 35 total guests, Tyler had plenty of smiles to go around. He was so happy all day long and had a ball running around. He owned the day! He received a lot of wonderful gifts, including a basketball hoop, tee ball set, Cars couch/bed combo and plenty of clothes for the next year! Thank you to everyone for the lovely gifts and spending the day with our family. We are so grateful to have you in our lives. Tyler is one lucky little boy!

Tyler's first year - month by month

Tyler is one today! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday (well, a few months ago...) that we were going to the hospital and I was being induced. He has grown up so quickly!

Tyler is such a lovable, happy, easy going little boy. He loves to play with balls. Any ball...big, small, deflated... He often has one in each hand chasing a third.

He is fearless. He will plow down anyone or anything to get to where he wants to go. Hence, we have given him the occasional nickname of "Frank the Tank." Someday we think he will make a great football....defensive lineman, running back?

He loves his big sister, Aubrey. He will follow her around all day long. Sometimes she likes to play with him and wants to be chased. Other times, she is simply trying to run away. She lets us know when she wants him away even though she often takes matters into her own hands to remove him from the situation. Ever hear of the forearm shiver? She's got it mastered. Fifty percent of the time, they play very nicely together. It could be worse, right? She has taught him many things. The most recent of her teachings is going down the slide on his belly. Granted, the slide is only 2-3 feet long but he seems a little young to be attempting this feat. He doesn't know any better though and has made this his new means of coming down, giggling every time.

He is so quick at learning. He started walking a few weeks ago and gets everywhere quickly now. He knows how to push the lever on the refrigerator for water. (Thank goodness there is a button to "lock" this so water does not come out). He babbles all of the time. He often says "Mama, Dada, Baba (bottle)," but is starting to say "dub a dub a dub..." Not sure what that means. :)

We love our little boy and can't wait for him to get more vocal and mobile. We look forward to what the second year of his life has to bring. We love you, Tyler!

Choo-Choo

Aubrey is getting pretty creative lately. Her newest idea was turning the empty clothes basket into a train. Tyler got to sit in it with her as well. What will she think of next?

Caitlin's Golden

Caitlin celebrated her golden birthday on the 5th and we all celebrated with her at her party on the 6th. She was so excited and such a "star!" She received a lot of fun presents, including lots of clothes from Grandma. Aubrey was a little jealous but she got over it quickly after snuggling with Grandma. She also gave the other kids goodie bags which included inflatable microphones and star-framed sunglasses. The kids had so much fun with them.
