Trick or treat!

Halloween night is here! We went down to Loyola during the day to watch Jeff play volleyball. Both kids fell asleep on the way home and missed the start of trick-or-treating. After an hour of kids coming to our door, I decided it was time to wake Aubrey so that she could participate, too. I got her dressed in her bear costume and let her sample some of the treats. :) She loved watching the kids come to the door. In fact, she loved it so much that she wanted to go out herself. So, I woke Tyler, bundled the kids up and headed out. We hit about 10-15 houses on our block and Aubrey had a ball. All of the houses thought she was absolutely adorable! Tyler rode in the stroller quietly but managed to score some candy, too. Daddy missed out on the occasion as his team played well at the tourney but I took lots of pictures so he could see the little bears!

Carving time

Time to carve the pumpkins. It was the first time we have ever done it with the kids. Aubrey really wanted to take no part in the scooping. Tyler wanted to help, but anything he touched went straight to his mouth. So, needless to say, I scooped and Jeff and I each carved one pumpkin. They are pretty basic but it was fun for the kids.

Tyler's baptism weekend

We headed back to Orion again. As usual, we had a very busy agenda planned. Friday night we bared the cold weather and went to watch Caleb's football game. We only made it through the first half but the Chargers were ahead by enough that we knew they'd win the game and remain undefeated! Aubrey had a great time playing with Evan and Sarah. She really looks up to them. Tyler sat nicely, all bundled up, with Aunt Deanna before falling asleep on Aunt Denise.

Saturday morning, we headed to the Country Corner Pumpkin patch. This is the second year in a row we've gone there and we really enjoy it. We went to the petting zoo before heading out to find the perfect pumpkins. Aubrey had a lot of fun looking at all of the pumpkins while Tyler watched intently from his stroller. After selecting our pumpkins, we then rode the infamous cow train. Aubrey doesn't remember it from last year. But, I don't think she'll forget it now. She had so much fun. Jeff and I took a beating though as our legs kept banging against the cars. Oh well...the price to pay for our kids' entertainment.

Saturday night, Mom made a delicious dinner. Aaron and his family came over. Lainey and Aubrey had a ball playing together. I can only imagine how close they'll become as they continue to grow up.
Denise and her family stopped by as well. Denise was on her way to a Halloween party. Doesn't Evan make a cute cheerleader?

Sunday was the big day! Tyler was baptised at St. Paul Lutheran Church. This is the same church that I attended as a child and was baptised at myself. (We also had Aubrey baptised there). Tyler was very well-behaved. However, he wanted nothing to do with getting his head wet. As soon as it was finished, Pastor paraded him down the aisle to meet the congregation and he was all smiles. As soon as the service finished, we wanted to take some family photos. Apparently Tyler was pooped though and decided it was time to take a cat nap. He was sleeping so soundly, we couldn't wake him at all. He only napped about 10 minutes and was ready for pictures again. What a ham!

After the service, we headed out to Mom and Dad's for a little luncheon. The food was delicious and Tyler received many great gifts. We had plenty of picture frames to display the blessed event now. :) A special thanks to my parents for preparing all of the food and hosting the luncheon. Also, thanks to Denise/Jake and Jinger/Gus who have the honor of being Tyler's godparents. Lastly, thanks to everyone for being a party of Tyler's special day!

DuPage Children's Museum

Monday is my birthday and the way I chose to celebrate was by taking the kids to the DuPage Children's Museum in Naperville. We went last year for my birthday and Aubrey had a ball. Whenever, she has fun, so do we! There is so much for the kids to do and now that Aubrey is a year older, there is that much more.

First we went to the "air" area. She hit the air tunnel first but wasn't sure what to think. Tyler went in, too, and was even more baffled.

Then we played with the air tubes. Tyler loved having the yarn balls fly out at him and Aubrey thought it was cool that the ping pong balls could float on air.
Next we went to the "bubble and water" area. Aubrey and Daddy made lots of big bubbles together. Aubrey also enjoyed playing in the water. She liked it so much, she wanted to take a drink. Yucky!

Lastly, we went to the "building" section. Aubrey had fun putting together Lego type toys and creating a stain glass wall section. She also played in the music room and the frozen shadow room. The museum has so much to offer and room for kids to really use their imagination. Hopefully, we can go back again next year for my birthday, too!
